Thanks to all who participated in and volunteered for Blackhawk Country Roads Invitational.  We hope to see you again in 2025!

Welcome to the BBSC home page

Our Mission is to promote and encourage safe bicycling, skiing, and other self-propelled sports/activities for recreation, health, fitness, transportation, and service to the local community.  We are a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Each year, we organize and sponsor one major bicycling invitational (Blackhawk Country Roads) open to all registrants.  We use the proceeds to support local groups, projects, and activities in accordance with our mission statement.

Our seasonal recreational/fitness schedule offers bicycling in the spring, summer, and fall, cross-country skiing in winter, and hiking in between the ski/bike seasons when weather gets cold, but snow is sparse. Other activities include kayaking and clean up days.  We are happy to provide instructional help to our members for road cycling and cross-country skiing. We strive to be a very friendly, social, active and inclusive club, and welcome your input in achieving that goal.

We are a membership based club and would love to have you join us.  You do not have to be a member to go on an outing or two to see how our club operates, but we expect regular participants to become members.  Current annual dues are  $15/individual or $20/family. Dues cover only part of the club's costs. The annual Blackhawk Country Roads Invitational is our main fundraiser. Thanks to all who have supported our ride as participants and volunteers.

Club group ride guidelines:
All riders participate at their own risk. Members must agree to a waiver of liability (waiver located here)  to complete their membership.  Non-members ride at their own risk.  In the event of injury for members, please contact your club board.  Please follow road cycling safety practices, abide by rules of the road and follow current COVID guidelines.  "Cycling During the Pandemic" information can be found on the Ride Illinois website by clicking on this link: COVID info. We appreciate your cooperation in these inconvenient times.

Many thanks from the BBSC Board
